A Brooklyn Brownstone

November 5 we signed a lease to our new digs.  December 18 we moved in.  A 9ft sofa, a pup, Christmas, Mama F and a couple of friends later- we are now starting to feel at “home”.  Leo and I had just about everything imaginable thrown our way  (just like everybody else) in the past 8 months- but, he’s got this patience thing down to a science… he knows how to cool my jets when I get a tad jumpy and he’s not afraid to take chances- he’s a killer friend and incredible partner.

I’m a super thankful gal.

2012 is bound to be a good one, we can just feel it.

*now on to new projects like what to cover with this chalkboard paint…

What we want and what we can afford are two completely opposite things… waiting for the apartment/home of my dreams, or something I can turn into my dream to just fall smack down in my lap. I have hope, I have leo and I have miss m and that’s all a girl needs.

Brooklyn, Brooklyn..Take Us In

Posted on

er… let us in?  Yesterday, after months of thought, planning, stressing, packing, driving, walking and flying…the apartment search began.  What a shitshow!  Agnes had not yet had the pleasure of searching for a dwelling in or around NYC.  Leonard had…and he bribed everyone in a 50 mile radius not to tell her how miserable it is.

Armed with a love of Brooklyn, an overnight bag, a computer tuned solely to Craigslist, and Hammerhead (to shuttle them around), the duo set out to find new digs worthy of their lofty dreams and good enough for their pup!  Never before had they realized there were many neighborhoods to choose from.  Never before did they know the streets in Brooklyn follow no order (where the hell’s the grid system!?).  Never before did they realize that only millionaires can afford a 200 square ft studio in Park Slope.  Never before had they seen so many ghettos in one concentrated area.  Still, unabashed by the umpteen weirdo realtors who called or the countless dead whores who peppered the closets of the “premium” places they were shown, they searched on.  They hit one of their favorite watering holes for a much needed mid-afternoon bloody mary.  They circled the park, in what can only be described as a scene out of National Lampoon’s Vacation.  They led Hammah down pothole-laden streets, really testing her new kicks.  Oh…and it was raining!  At the end of the day they still hadn’t found a place but agreed, after a fit of delirious laughter, “there’s always next week…”

Special shout out to Aggie who treated Leo to an overnight in a penthouse apartment for his birthday (view above).  Damn he’s got it good!

Anyway, we’ll be sure to keep you posted!

rained out at renegade.

for years and years i’ve followed Renegade Craft Fair via blogs, websites, etsy, etc.  for years and years i’ve wanted to see it for myself… the plethora of tents and handmade goodies.  i wanted to take photobooth pics with brooklyn buds and meet interesting folks from around the globe.  unfortunately mother nature had a different plan for all of us.  we were rained on, like torrential down pour… we saved a few tents from blowing into oblivion and crossed our fingers that not all the art work displayed would be ruined.  we ran around with friends and hopped over puddles, admired bright colored umbrellas, made faces, drank coffee, got stuck on a going nowhere G train and met a cute-face pup named Sam.  luckily for some, the following day proved to be better weather but for me i was in the midst of something super exciting (more on that to follow).  so now, i must sift through the many biz cards that i was at least able to grab in the mad dash of renegade sweep!

maybe, just maybe i’ll be around for the chicago or or or the LONDON renegade in a few months!
